20 years experience here. 3 children, ages 11,10,and 8.

Describe the physical setting of your farm and the nature of the community in which you live

5 acres at the confluence of the Jocko and the Flathead Rivers on the Flathead Indian Reservation. Dixon is a small town of mostly elders. There are several other like minded farms in the area. Walking distance to public access swimming. Close to the Nat'l. Bison Range and the Mission Mountains

Describe your farm operation

3 acres of mixed vegetables and small fruits(strawberries). Lots of alliums- garlic, shallots, cippolini onions. We have a hoophouse and a greenhouse. We grow organically and are a member of Homegrown ( see website). We strive to learn something new every day.

Describe the work to be performed by applicant

Will be involved in all aspects of the farm operation from greenhouse to harvesting; also farmers market.

What do you expect of a worker?

5 1/2 days / week; approx. 8 hrs/day. Must be able to work without supervision and be detail orientated.

Describe the learning and educational opportunities available to a worker

Seed starting, transplanting,field care, organic soil nutrition, pest control, harvest, storage, transportation, and marketing. We have an extensive library on all things sustainable.

Explain the room and board arrangements or describe options in your area

Intern will have private room with wifi access upstairs in the barn; own bathroom. All workday meals provided. No smokers.
