We have a two story house on the property - 4 bedroom, 2 bath - built in 1955 - fully furnished -in good shape. Utilities would be furnished as well.
No smoking, drugs or inside pets.

Please share three things you think people should know about living with you.

We are a very small community of about 150 people - ten miles from the Canadian border. We know all of the folks in the community, and most are farmers and ranchers. Our community has a grocery store, bar& grill, school k-12, Post office, mechanic shop, beauty shop, self service fuel pumps. We have a local volunteer fire department and ambulance crew.

Describe yourself, your family, background, farming experience, philosophy, goals and interests

I am the third generation on my families farm. My wife and I live in town. We have been married for 28 years, and we have no children. I have owned other farms and have been farming on my own since 1980.

Describe the physical setting of your farm and the nature of the community in which you live

We live on the open plains, and are called the Big Flat. Our farmstead is 2 miles north and 1/4 mile west off of highway 241. We are a pretty close knit community as we are fairly remote. We are 75 miles to the nearest hospital, and 30 miles to the nearest doctors office.

We have about 5500 acres of dry land farming, mostly durum and pulse crops. We have some organic

Describe the work to be performed by applicant

A worker would need to be able to operate and service equipment from a mower to a 120 foot sprayer and all farm other farm machinery such as combines, tractors, semi, trucks

What do you expect of a worker?

Self starter - good worker dedicated to the farm business. Working as needed during the busy times of seeding, spraying and harvesting. Otherwise a regular 40 hour week with weekends off.

Describe the learning and educational opportunities available to a worker

You would be working with Max some of the time, and alone some of the time. Learning all of the aspects of farming. Would be concentrating most on organic ground and organic transition acres.

Describe what other occupation(s) you have

Technically, yes, we are full time farmers as we spend a lot of time in the winter working on things for the farm. However, in the winter we also do mechanic auto restoration.
