Describe yourself, your family, background, farming experience, philosophy, goals and interestsI am a new farmer that is looking forward to another season of growing. Having a background in restaurants I enjoy the entire process of seeding to harvest to table. The goal of the farm is to also operate as a market and a restaurant. We are currently in the process of doing both. I would also like to incorporate community focused educational workshops.
Describe the physical setting of your farm and the nature of the community in which you liveRoosterloo farm is located just outside of city limits, but still within Missoula County. The area we are located is mostly zoned for light industry operation, 1.5 mile from Big Sky brewing. The planes and trains are always fun to watch, and often able to witness smoke jumper training.
Describe your farm operation
We are a 3 acre farm with 2 high tunnels and a nexus greenhouse. All of the houses have separately irrigated raised beds. There is a third house frame that needs to be moved and re covered. We have outdoor beds that are challenging, due to the fact this property has not been farmed prior to last year. There is a 3,000 square foot interior space that is being built out as a market/eatery. the commercial kitchen has a large walk in refrigerator and appropriate vegetable washing areas.
