I currently have two income sources. My main income sources is working as an independent contractor (primarily overseas). My secondary income source is the operation of a small (less than 1/2 acre) certified organic vegetable/fruit farm. Because I have no formal agricultural experience, I have been learning through books, hands-on experience and asking questions. This is my second season as a certified organic grower. I will be selling my produce again this year at the local Farmer's Market. My goal is to flip my income sources with my primary source coming from agriculture. I would eventually like to have a the ability to continue growing certified organic produce along with certified organic and weed free hay/forage crop and a few cattle and chickens.

Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.

For the past 5 years, I have learning about my soil and the importance of organic matter, soil nutrient balance and soil microbial life. I believe I am ready to take what I have learned, on a small scale, and expand and grow it. I would like the opportunity to continue growing certified organic produce on a bigger scale along with the room and ability to raise a small herd of cattle (for custom butchering), organically raised chickens and the acreage to produce a hay/forage crop (for on-site use and the market). My intent is to operate using only organic farming principles.
Onsite housing may be needed if farm is too far from home in Helena.

Please elaborate on the kind of additional training/information that would help you:

Again, I am pretty new to this so along with making my share of mistakes (of which I've learned from), there are some techniques/practices that simply don't cross my mind because I'm not aware of them. I am always interested in seeing how other's figure out crop timing and management and avenues of marketing.
