General farming (over 3 years), Other experience/license/agriculture or business training

Other experience/license/agriculture or business training:

Working on several farms with both vegetables and animals.

Briefly describe your current occupation(s) and responsibilities and list previous agricultural employment and experiences. If you are currently farming or ranching, please state the size, type(s), and location of the operation.

I have worked on a few different farms involved with both vegetable and livestock production. While working for the Blue Skies Stables I cared for chickens, a horse, and a large garden and road side stand. I also worked with the Clearfield Vet Hospital caring for several horses, goats, chickens and ducks as well as completing some repair jobs etc. For the past 3 years my husband and I have been renting 26 acres and have been gardening, growing garlic on a large scale, rasing and selling pastured poultry: chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys, meat rabbits, and pastured pigs as well as milking a herd of dairy goats (6 does) and caring for 2 horses. We also have employed two Great Pyrenees Livestock Guardian Dogs for animal protection.
My husband also currently works for the United States Post Office.

Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.

What we would like to be able to do would be to have a market garden with fruit and veggies, herbs, cut flowers, as well as growing most of the food for our livestock. We are very interested raising pastured livestock for meat and perusing small scale dairying. We are also very interested in mushrooms and bee keeping. In the future we would love to possibly to host educational events or hold classes to teach people things like cheese making, soap making, seed saving, humane butchering, farm to table dinners, etc.

Elaborate on the farming practices you plan on using.

We will be using the most natural, sustainable, and environmentally friendly practices possible. Limited tilling if possible, chemical free, soil rebuilding, intensive/integrated rotational grazing, etc. Would like to use intensive growing methods like that of Jean Martin-Fortier.
