While I was growing up, family operated a small scale direct marketing beef business. I was apart of every aspect of the business from fencing, calving, doctoring cattle, feeding, growing/harvesting hay and helping with the marketing and bookkeeping. I loved just about everything about it. I'm not currently ranching or farming now, but my goal is to start a business raising stockers/backgrounding and cow/calf. my long term goal is to raise grass fed beef for direct market sales. I'm also interested in producing multi species meet animals for direct marketing.

Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.I'm most interested in starting a cow/calf and stocker operation. Depending upon market conditions, and herd size, I would capitalize on the benefits of retained ownership through the feed yard. As a long range ambition, I would like to research the potential for a viable direct marketing program and sell beef direct to consumers. I have been educating myself on the most up-to-date beef production practices, including the use of EPDs for cattle selection. I intend to devote a great deal of time and resources to achieving the best herd genetics I can get to fit the environment I am ranching in. The beef I intend to produce will be superior quality and best marketed directly to consumers searching.
