My partner and I are currently working on Lower Crossing Farm, where I am the garden manager and she is the Livestock Manager. I am managing a 1.5 acre vegetable garden and she is responsible for the daily care of 250 chickens, 40 pigs, and 25 cattle, all of which are rotationally grazed. The farm is 110 acres. Our products are sold through CSA shares and at the Clark Fork Farmers Market. We also do custom butchering and supply the Take It Or Leave It food truck.

Farming Practices

Organic

Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.

We would like to have a diversified farming operation with multiple kinds of livestock (potentially chickens, pigs, cattle, yak, others) as well as a vegetable/flower garden. We would also eventually like to eventually develop a fruit and nut area, with a mix of berries, fruit trees, and nut trees. We plan on marketing our products though farmers markets, wholesale accounts (restaurants, etc), and online sales. We believe in using regenerative organic farming practices. We would be intensively managing all animals on pasture to mimic a healthy grass-based ecosystem. All of our produce growing practices would be organic as well.

Transition Arrangements

Buy/Sell, Cropshare, Lease, Partnership, Open to other arrangements

If you are interested in another type of business arrangement, please explain

We would be open to a lease-to-own arrangement as well, or another creative option that would allow us, as capital-poor young farmers, to become more independent.

Please elaborate on the kind of additional training/information that would help you:

We are still relatively new to the area, so "local knowledge" would be greatly appreciated. We have also never taken out a major loan, so any help in that process would also be very helpful.

Please attach any photos that support your application.
