I currently run a leased cut flower operation in Bozeman that's profitable and in its third year. I have a degree in Sustainable Crop Production from MSU, and was the Marketing Manager with production and teaching responsibilities at MSU's organic learning farm, Towne's Harvest Garden. I was the assistant manager at 3 Hearts Farm as well. I've mostly worked on organic, market/csa based vegetable and cut flower production farms.

My current operation is primarily in high tunnel production, field production, pastured layers, and bees. My current markets are three farmers markets, a CSA program, and u-pick.

Lease to Own, Manage to Own, and any other agreement leading into land ownership. Long term, guaranteed leases may be considered. We're looking for security to build infrastructure, get started, etc. Lease deals typically don't last more than 5 years, and that doesn't give enough security - would entertain 10+ year lease deals.

Outright ownership with a land owner who can patiently wait while we navigate the FSA land ownership loan option is preferred. There is no pre-approval through FSA, so a purchase agreement may take 3-12 months to go through.

I plan on starting an organic or certified naturally grown vegetable and cut flower operation at first, then expanding out into sheep, poultry and cows. I would love to focus on storage crops to sell into a distributor and to supply grocery stores and restaurants through the winter. Agrotourism and teaching is important to me as well so I would ideally be near a decent population center.

I would love to run a farm with a large amount of diversity over time. I've been thinking about shared-partnership opportunities and cooperative farms.

We own a 20 foot yurt as our dwelling and have a dog.

I own a profitable agricultural business in its 3rd year of production

Elaborate on the farming practices you plan on using.

High diversity farming with ecological principles. I don't know what the next phase of farming will look like for me. I currently run a Certified Naturally Grown business. I till once per year, we run chickens in the hoop houses in the winter time, we use mushroom compost sourced locally, and use drip irrigation and landscape fabric for weed management. I think I'd like to move away from plastics and potentially move into a semi-no-till or no-till operation.
