Briefly describe your current occupation(s) and responsibilities and list previous agricultural employment and experiences. If you are currently farming or ranching, please state the size, type(s), and location of the operation.Currently and for the past 3 years, I have been managing livestock on a ranch here in Hamilton, MT. I am responsible for the care and managing of 30 head of Scottish Highland beef cattle, Nubian goats, a flock of laying hens, and a team of hogs on 90 acres. These animals are produced for protein products that are sold in our onsite farm shop. We are a permaculture farm that implements regenerative agriculture practices to produce organically grown products. I use intensive rotational grazing with the herd of cattle to improve our pasture’s productivity and health, as well as keep the health and body condition of the herd in top condition. I am responsible for animal husbandry, health and treatment, feeding, and all aspects of animal raising. Along with raising livestock I manage the health of our pastures and soil.

Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.Through regenerative and holistic management practices, I am planning on running a stacked enterprise business of producing animal proteins. Specifically I want to use interspecies grazing with sheep and beef, as well as producing pastured pork. These items will be sold direct to consumer. With my abilities and practices I am skilled at land restoration, including the restoration of native flora and fauna, as well as the rhizosphere and soil.
The ethos of my business is centered around creating a quality organically raised product that is affordable to everyone. I believe high quality - nutritiously dense food should be available to people across the socioeconomic spectrum.
Elaborate on the farming practices you plan on using.In general, I will be practicing regenerative organic farming but I would like to utilize restaurant food scraps as a feed source for hogs.
Nationally, 40% of our food is going to waste, and I wish to address this locally by using excess food that will not only benefit my operation, but will lower food disposal costs for local restaurants.
