I recently completed 6.5 years of managing a Wildland Seed Services Program for a conservation organization. The program provided high-quality genetically appropriate seed for land managing agencies, especially relating to large-scale mitigation and revegetation work. The program also provided support where agencies did not have the staff capacity or technical expertise to achieve optimal results and built and coordinated regional knowledge related to best practices. As the program manager, I coordinated with amplification farms to produce local ecotypes.

I have dedicated my career to land management and natural resource conservation for over twenty years. In roles such as program manager, botanist, seed ecologist, native plant nursery manager, grower, restoration technician, and resource advisor, I have worked for a wide range of organizations, including non-profits, private forestry operations, universities, and the federal government.

I have years of experience as a grower and nursery manager. My recent role was a branch of a more extensive native plant nursery operation. In addition, I have worked for MSU Ag at the Creston farm in Kalispell, Montana, as a research technician

Farming Practices

Conventional, Organic, Other

Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.

Dependent on the opportunity. I'm most interested in developing a medium-scale flower farm operation (10 - 30 acres), including vegetables, orchards, and seed production. I'm also interested in producing local-ecotype wildland seed for erosion control, emergency response, and conservation applications.

Elaborate on the farming practices you plan on using.

Dependent on the opportunity. Regenerative and Integrated; Sustainable, Eco Agriculture, Organic, Biodynamic, Agro-Forestry, and Natural Farming techniques. Best humane practices. I'm also interested in intensive, conventional farming, depending on the operation and land-transition possibilities.

If you are interested in another type of business arrangement, please explain

I am hoping to have the opportunity to work with a landowner who is willing to mentor me for at least one season. I want to eventually purchase the land I'd be working on, and I (and my partner) need a place to live. I come from a family of Montana farmers, skip my mother's generation. My grandmother's sentiments had a deep impact on me as a child. Upon taking ownership, I would be open to arranging for the farmer to stay on the property indefinitely. I am looking for a farm transition that honors the integrity of the previous stewards.
