Other experience/license/agriculture or business training:Farm management (3+), general college, general farming (3+); spent about one year after college in environmental education; currently farming about 150 acres. My wife and I have been farming together full time for 10 years. Previously I worked for Provident Organic Farm (Bivalve, MD), Quinn Farm and Ranch (Big Sandy, MT), Moss Farm (Rollins, Mt), Waller Farm (Creston, Mt), Lake to Sky Orchard (Yellow Bay)
Briefly describe your current occupation(s) and responsibilities and list previous agricultural employment and experiences. If you are currently farming or ranching, please state the size, type(s), and location of the operation.Near Salisbury, MD we raised about 25 acres of diverse organic vegetables for a 225 member CSA, 6 farmers markets, and an on-farm store. We also raised and processed 4000 pastured broiler chickens and 20 Thanksgiving turkeys a year. We had 50 head of beef cattle on 100 acres of pasture (some leased), as well as 90 free ranging pigs that lived in our old-growth oak forest. We employed about 17 people in the main season. Almost everything we grew is sold retail.
Now we live in Kalispell and are looking for land that is already set up to farm, this means there is already irrigation, sheds/outbuildings, fence, or some combination of these three. We would certainly like to find a long term lease and home for our farming operation, and we would consider purchasing. We have all the necessary equipment to farm, and the experience as well. We are extremely respectful, responsible, and easy to get along with. We would be glad to provide references. Thanks for your consideration!
