Briefly describe your current occupation(s) and responsibilities and list previous agricultural employment and experiences. If you are currently farming or ranching, please state the size, type(s), and location of the operation. My wife and I currently run 120 cow-calf pairs on leased ground in Washington county, Idaho. We also raise hay on 150 acres of rented ground and run a custom haying business. Our leases change year to year and we are looking for a ranch where we can expand our herd and raise our family. I have been raising cattle for 9 years and running the custom hay business for 9 years as well. We raise black bally calves, Angus mother cows bred to Hereford bulls. We live in Idaho but are willing to move basically anywhere if we can find the land and the opportunity to purchase it. We would like to build up to a 500-600 head operation.

Type of OperationHay & Forage, Large Animal (cattle, sheep, goats)
Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.I plan to build up a cattle herd of 500-600 mother cows. I would like to produce all the hay/forage needed to feed the cattle year round. Additionally, I would like to have a feedlot to finish the calves out to 800 lbs. before selling. If ever an opportunity arose to run sheep as well as cattle I would take it. My wife is interested in training and marketing cattle dogs and I train stock horses as well. It is very important to me to raise my children on a ranch and pass on this lifestyle to them.
Transition ArrangementsBuy/Sell, Cropshare, Lease, Partnership
Please elaborate on the kind of additional training/information that would help you:As a beginning rancher, financing is my main area of concern. The amount of money needed to purchase a ranch large enough to sustain my family is far greater than I can secure at the present time. Owner financing would be very helpful.
