Currently we have a small cattle operation consisting primarily of Registered Herefords. We have 36 mother cows and a handful of replacement heifers. We are wanting to expand but are having a hard time finding affordable land to do it.
We are looking for land with enough room and resources to expand slowly in order to maintain a positive balance sheet with minimal debt.
We each work outside jobs with flexible schedules to enable someone to be home working with the cattle at all times. Once we grow to 100 mother cows, one of us will be able to quit the outside job and ranch full time. After we grow to 400 mother cows, then we will both be able to ranch full time doing what we are passionate about, raising quality Hereford seedstock.

Our ag operation will consist of raising enough hay to sustain our cattle through the winter months. Our drought plan is to have enough hay in reserve to last a full winter.
Hay fields will be fertilized in the spring as needed to optimize the growth of native grasses and minimize weed growth. Noxious weeds will be handled immediately as needed to prevent any future growth.

Financing is always the largest roadblock. We have excellent credit and when working with banks and other lending options, we have been told we either need the cattle to put up to buy the land, or the land to put up to buy the cattle.
