Pay Rate

We pay $250 to $400 a week as well as housing and any food grown on the farm. Pay Depends on experience and will likely start at $250-$300 a week and increase as employees skills progress. We pay above board and provide workers comp.

Describe the physical setting of your farm and the nature of the community in which you live

The farm is located just north of Hamilton Montana. There is a bike path to town which is about 2 miles away. There are many opportunities for outdoor recreation close.

Describe your farm operation

Mill Crick Farm and Fourth Wave Farm are jointly managed by Lindsey Aull and Randall Mark in the Bitterroot Valley in Western Montana. We grow certified organic mixed vegetables and cut flowers on about 12 acres. Our markets are a mix of wholesale, farmers market, and a roadside farm stand. We have several high tunnels for season extension and a greenhouse for field starts and bedding plants. We also grow alfalfa hay on around 20 acres. We are currently seeking three employees for the 2020 growing season. We are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working outside and have a desire to learn about farming.

Describe the work to be performed by applicant

Work will include duties in the greenhouse and field, including seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvesting, and processing/washing produce for sale. We will be working in all weather, which will vary greatly over the course of the season.

What do you expect of a worker?

Work is five days a week and varies from 35 to 50 hours a week throughout the season. Working farmers market on Saturday is sometimes an option. It is extra and pays $50 for about 4 hours.

Describe the learning and educational opportunities available to a worker

We hope to provide training in the skills and knowledge needed to work on/manage a farm including greenhouse management; field tillage and fertility management; equipment use and maintenance; plant production;wholistic farm planning and record-keeping. We have working relationships with several area farms and interns will have the opportunity to visit other operations & interns over the summer through a program run by the Community Food and Agriculture Coalition in Missoula.

there are a few options for housing including trailers, a teepee, and a one room shack. Employees share an outdoor kitchen and a bath house
