Briefly describe your current occupation(s) and responsibilities and list previous agricultural employment and experiences. If you are currently farming or ranching, please state the size, type(s), and location of the operation.

For the past 3 years we’ve been subsistence farming 8.5 acres in northern California with no irrigation, tons of undisclosed foundational problems, and no running water (irrigation or household) since July 2023. At this location, we have raised laying hens for eggs, pigs, beef cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, and turkeys for protein shares purchased by our local community that sustain our household. Due to our situation and upcoming relocation, we have significantly decreased our herd sizes, but are managing a very small collection of foundational stock that will be coming with us.
Brandy is our full-time farmer. She has a lifetime of farming experience; ranging from sustainable, hydroponic, fruit and nut orchards and market farming. She also has as much and as varied livestock stewardship experience; she is well versed in dairy (cow and goat), rabbit, pig, beef cattle, sheep, meat goat, chicken, and turkey (eggs and meat) stewardship and management. I'm happy to provide my professional resume and farming experience narrative for more specifics.

Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.

The Oasis Farm will be the community’s year-round source of responsibly grown produce and proteins. The farm will grow/ raise/ produce diversified vegetables, herbs, fruits, nuts, heritage eggs, heritage pork, goat, lamb, and rabbit year-round. Beyond the standard suite of vegetables, the farm will grow specialty herbs and produce value-added goods such as dehydrated rabbit pelts, dried/dehydrated herbs and vegetables, and seasonal preserves. The community will find our goods at local farmer’s markets and/or our roadside stand, and our farm members will receive weekly produce and protein shares through pick up at farmer’s markets or on the farm.

Elaborate on the farming practices you plan on using.

We are passionate about sustainable stewardship and its ability to heal, maintain, and enhance the health of our land, and our community. Our practices reflect this. We're happy to provide our growing practices for review.

If you are interested in another type of business arrangement, please explain

We’re open to all manner of arrangements, as a family we possess diverse skill sets, understand the value of hard work, and aren’t afraid of it. We will consider a crop share or lease situation that could evolve into an eventual purchase of an existing farm. We’re familiar with the USDA FSA process but currently don’t have the capital for a down payment. We have a business plan and supporting financials that we can tailor to a specific property’s space, resources, etc. We would also consider a situation that would have space for a travel trailer, our livestock, and farming on an existing farm/property for a year or two while we establish ourselves. Or??

Please elaborate on the kind of additional training/information that would help you:
