Briefly describe your current occupation(s) and responsibilities and list previous agricultural employment and experiences. If you are currently farming or ranching, please state the size, type(s), and location of the operation.

I currently work for the Forest Service and previously worked for the Natural Resource Conservation Service. I was born on a dairy farm, and as a youth raised brahman cattle with my family, as well as owned and operated a clam farm and small citrus operation in Florida. I have worked as a butcher and worked at slaughter houses processing livestock as well as managing a horse ranch. I have a BS degree in forestry and a MS in soil science and most recently had a small poultry and quail operation as well as a small fruit orchard in FL. Now living and working in Montana I would love to continue producing and providing some type of agricultural product.

Please elaborate on the type(s) of agricultural operation you plan on running.

I am well versed in many agricultural operations and am able and willing to operate under many different types, from small subsistence type, organic, and conventional. Most of my practical experience is on smaller operations but have assisted and consulted on much larger 500+ acre operations.

Elaborate on the farming practices you plan on using.

I am a firm believer in sustainable use and build upon the land from the soil on up. If you treat the soil right the land will take care of you. I am also a firm believer in listening to the land and not forcing something that is not meant to be. You have to work with what you have and what is suitable for the soil type, landscape, and climate, and be adaptable.
